Doug McCorquodale – Owner
Doug McCorquodale, BSc, RPBio, is the Owner of Pacificus Biological Services. Doug has worked in the field of Fisheries Biology for over 25 years. Doug has extensive biological planning and management experience and is fully certified to carry out biological assessments including habitat utilization, stream classifications and dive assessments (certified commercial SCUBA diver). Doug has participated in a wide range of marine habitat evaluations such as marine invertebrate monitoring, eelgrass remediation, and rockfish utilization. Additionally, Doug is heavily involved in the changes and practical implementation of fisheries related legislation. His extensive practical background and biological expertise makes him an invaluable contributor to roundtable discussions regarding policy implementation.
His long standing involvement in the field ensures that Doug has a comprehensive working knowledge of construction techniques for stream crossings and culverts, deactivation requirements, and mitigation techniques. Under the guidance of Doug this dynamic company has earned a reputation for being efficient, reliable, and well prepared.
Jennifer Russell, BSc, RPBio, is a Supervising Biologist and the Operations Manager in Port Hardy for Pacificus. Jennifer has worked with Pacificus for over 16 years. Jennifer has extensive biological planning and management experience and is fully certified to carry out biological assessments including stream classifications. Experienced in all aspects of fisheries assessments, project management, in-field assessments, technical writing, and practical recommendations, Jennifer also has specific experience related to water sampling techniques, wildlife surveys and environmental mitigation plans. With numerous years of practical field experience, Jennifer has worked closely with a range of clients and projects at Pacificus to deliver high quality work.
Derek LeBoeuf, BSc, RPBio, is a Supervising Biologist and Campbell River Office Manager for Pacificus. Derek has worked with Pacificus for 10 years. Derek has taken a lead role in our marine assessments and surveys division having spent numerous hours’ underwater conducting habitat assessments, population surveys, and industrial diving operations (certified commercial SCUBA diver). He has demonstrated exceptional skills in fisheries impact assessment and mitigation, abalone surveys, herring spawn surveys, rockfish population assessments, eelgrass transplanting, and in the development of erosion and sediment control management plans. Derek’s well-rounded experience, adaptability, and strong work ethic make him an integral part of Pacificus’ operations.
David Pratt, RBTech, is a Fisheries Technologist and Project Manager for Pacificus. David has worked with Pacificus for 10 years. David has extensive experience in applied biology including environmental assessments, planning and monitoring for ecosystem-based management and stream classification. Moreover, David is a certified crew leader in electro-fishing. David has worked extensively with the forest industry and civil works providing onsite environmental monitoring during various construction and deactivation projects. In addition to his role as a Fisheries Technologist, David is relied upon to successfully execute fisheries and marine infrastructure related projects, making him an integral part of the Pacificus team.
Trevor Nowak, BSc, RB Tech, is a Fisheries Biologist for Pacificus. Trevor has worked with Pacificus for over four years. Trevor additionally has over ten years of experience conducting various fisheries assessments on Vancouver Island and the mainland coast. He specializes in conducting stream classification, stream crossing assessments and environmental monitoring. He has a vast understanding and deep appreciation of coastal aquatic ecosystems and species interactions within them. His enthusiasm, communication skills and technical writing ability make him a valued member of the Pacificus team.
Rachel Mayo, BSc, is a Fisheries Biologist for Pacificus. Rachel has worked with Pacificus for over one year. Rachel has three years’ experience working with salmonids in marine and freshwater environments. Rachel has also completed a Post Degree Diploma in Fisheries and Aquaculture and a practicum with DFO’s Canadian Coastal and High Seas Juvenile Pacific Salmon program. Rachel currently specializes in environmental monitoring, environmental assessment, water sampling, and stream classification. Rachel provides Pacificus with a strong comprehension of fisheries values and a versatile skill-set.
Adam Harding, BSc, BIT, is a Marine Biologist, Project Manager and Commercial SCUBA diver for Pacificus. Adam has worked with Pacificus for over two years. Adam’s experience includes a variety of commercial, scientific, and industrial projects on both the East and West Coasts of Canada, bringing an extensive skill set in cold water marine work to Pacificus. He has been in involved extensively in applied underwater biology including subtidal marine assessments and fisheries surveys, underwater infrastructure inspections, and technical reporting have made him a valued part of the Pacificus team.
Ryan Sirges, BSc., is a Fisheries Biologist and Commercial SCUBA diver for Pacificus who has worked with Pacificus for over two years. His experience in applied biology includes environmental monitoring, stream classification, fish population surveys and bird surveys. Additionally Ryan has demonstrated remarkable skill with numerous subtidal marine assessments and fisheries surveys, underwater infrastructure inspections, and technical reporting. Ryan’s combination of expertise and strong work ethic make him a valued member of the Pacificus team.
Kylie Anderson, BA, is a Fisheries Technologist for Pacificus. Kylie has worked with Pacificus for over 4 years. Kylie has extensive experience in applied biology including environmental assessments, stock assessment, environmental monitoring on construction projects, and stream classification. She has worked extensively with the fisheries industry and has specific experience in juvenile salmonid work. In addition to her role as an Environmental Technologist, Kylie’s enthusiasm, work ethic, and distinctive skill set is relied upon to successfully execute remote fisheries population studies, making her a valued part of the Pacificus team.
